Chris Thomas - President

Chris and his family moved to Fernie from Ontario 7 years ago. He was a member of Scouts Canada, from Beavers to Venturers, becoming a leader when his own sons were involved. An avid outdoor enthusiast, he has spent many summers leading month long canoe trips through northern Ontario and is hiking, biking and skiing whenever possible. He enjoys orienteering and is a volunteer ski patrol member with the Canadian Ski Patrol System. Chris' professional life as an IT consultant has helped Fernie SAR overcome some of the communications issues involved with living in a mountainous area. Chris is also one of Fernie SAR's Search Managers.

Kat Robinson - Training Coordinator

Kat is originally from the UK and has a background in teaching, her final post was program leader on a course for students who wanted to join a public service (e.g. Police, Army, Fire etc...). This course had a high physical content including regular hikes in the local countryside and the English Lake District often with overnight wild camps which led Kat to taking qualifications in Mountain Leadership. Kat was also one of the primary instructors for the HSE First Aid at Work course which was delivered to a broad spectrum of professions. Kat is qualified as a ski instructor in the UK and first came to Fernie in the winter of 2004 to become qualified as a ski instructor in Canada and is now an instructor at the local Fernie ski hill.
